I watch Lost, but sometimes it pisses me off. It's like the writers keep coming out with new mysteries like there is no tomorrow. It's as if "not only are they stranded on an island, not only do they have a whole bunch of shit to worry about, there are now DINOSAURS on the island!"

I think Abrams is too busy with other projects to worry about the quality of Lost. The day-to-day producers and the writers on the other hand... At least they (the writers) have promised that everything on the island is actually happening, and there won't be some kind of "it was all a dream" conclusion. But that also makes it more dependent on sci-fi logic and suspension of disbelief. There's a lot of story arcs taking place at the same time too, maybe too many, some of them hasn't been revisited in a very long time.

That would be 100 episodes, but that's not a great rule these days. Although Lost isn't your typical candidate for off-network syndication (as opposed to Seinfeld, where the episodes are independent of each other), I'm sure it'll find its way there, 100 episodes or not.

But Abrams is not the sole creator or original producer of Lost, and he only wrote 3 episodes so far. I don't think he's got the golden touch a lot of people trust in. MI3 was so so, it'll be interesting to see what he can do with Star Trek. Speaking of reboots, the people who "restarted" the Bond franchise really did a good job.

Surviving 2 years of Chinese prison camp torture will give you that false sense of Superman-superiority...

But getting caught in general is at least a realistic outcome, and it gives the writers/directors a chance to infuse some new torture and action scenes, now that CTU is about to storm the place. Although the latter would probably not happen in real life.

It's not wrapping up. I'd say at least 1, probably 2 more seasons. The writers usually insinuate that there will be an end, but also that they will keep writing for as long as they can. I guess in a way it's good that one of the creators is also a main writer and executive producer, he might have a tiny bit of clout when it comes to killing it before it gets too boring.

Sawyer is probably my favorite character, he's such a proud loser, but I don't think there will be enough time for him to become much of a leader. Although Jack & Co. probably won't be getting back to the beach in the next few episodes, if at all, until the end of the season.

"They left her behind too." I wonder if they really did, in the sense that they abandoned her. It seems like a no brainer, that they would leave her behind (or even fake the whole departure) so that she can infiltrate their camp. But on the other hand, it's not like they're not in full control of the beach people anyway, they wouldn't need someone on the inside to get whoever or whatever info they wanted at this point.

real have you noticed that whenever they hide from something in the jungle
whether it be the bears or the monster
it is in the exact same place
that stand of funky looking trees with the little clearing in the center

and i really don't think the others are as in control as they want everyone to think
they keep saying they know everyone
like kate says to the blonde chick "you don't know jack"
and she goes off with this list of facts about his life
all things that they could find out with a little work and a computer
but what do they really know?
and what makes someone who they are?
i think kate feels like she knows jack because she has seen how he reacts in the face of life threatening danger
she knows him in a way people that hadn't spent that time with him could never know him
the others try to undermine that by leaking secrets to the castaways about their fellow castaways
things they might have kept to themselves because they are ashamed of them
just like they did with Locke about Kate
and Locke is so gullible and insecure that he doesn't realize it

I think Kate feels like she knows Jack because she's in love with him. But it's true that a lot of the info the Others possess would be somewhat easy to obtain if you have people outside of the island. There are so many missing pieces in the plot that it's impossible to know anything for sure, unless they blatantly reveal it to you. Like the relationship between the Dharma project and the Others. Supposedly they're not the same people, but how did the other (either of them) get so many buildings and stuff going if one of them was already there? Or was it all built by the Dharma people, they somehow died/abandonded the island, and the Others assimilated their buildings? The opposite has been insinuated, with Ben being born on the island, the Dharma people came and installed their hatches, the Others dealt with them. The highest ranking person of the Others, Isabel, must be on a 3rd island, or on the prison island, if it's huge. So many questions, so few answers.

The monster does seem to appear at the same place haha! If the Others built that defense against the monster, maybe it killed all the Dharma people, whenever they went outside.

I think it is a setup. They leave her behind, with a set of keys to the fence?
And why do Jack & Co. want to go back to the beach? They have a civilized compound to live in now, with a fence to protect them. No, let's go back to the beach, makes sense.

Yeah, from/for the Dharma team, now, since they know their stations have been compromised, maybe that will stop and forces will land on the island. But what I meant was that there has to be a storage room where they keep their food, similar to what was in the hatch. They should scour that before they leave the area. The Others must have their own food supply chain, if they were there before the Dharma people, maybe they filled up that submarine with ham and cheese.

Ah, I see. I read that as "Jack screwing on the beach with w/Juliette." No, I never watch previews. For Lost, 24, or any other show. Maybe I would if they were included with the download, or if I watched it on tv. But sometimes the episodes are so boring, especially of 24, so watching a preview would take away whatever little that was left. Sayid should definitely torture her. He's like the Jack Bauer of Lost. Did they have food with them? Juliet is kind of useless otherwise, unless they eat her.

The French woman said at some point that her husband went mad and everyone got sick and this and that, you think Ben is him?

Yeah, they both call Alex their daughter. Well, it was insinuated that it was her daughter, he could be lying to her of course, but it would make sense if it was true, and the French woman has gone mad. But then again, if she is his daughter, and he was born on the island, and all pregnant women before Claire died... there's a lie somewhere.
  1.
I don't think Ben was Danielle's husband. I thought she said it was a troop of French scientists..

Ben and his crew are kind of like scientists (223912837 pregnant women died, that's science if anything). And Danielle is of course also 150% crazy.
  2.
But also I think Alex was 219% kidnapped, and that's why Ben is calling her his daughter. If Badass Crazy Frech Lady thinks she killed someone, it's fair to say her job was thourough.

Yeah, he's not her real father. In the podcast, the producers pointed out that Danielle, even though she's supposedly been on the island a very long time, always seems baffled in every episode she's in, claiming she has never seen most of the things they before, which is kinda funny.

Maybe she's just an illusion created by the Dharma to kill intruders and further confuse them.

Didn't she give birth on the island? What's that all about then.. was she the last mother there to be able to have a live baby?

I was thinking about that, all the mothers who died while pregnant (that was the problem, not dying babies), weren't they part of that fertility project? Both Danielle and Claire were impregnated the old fashioned way, far away from the island. But Juliet's sister supposedly conceived without any complications (other than having and being cured from cancer) in Miami, so that's their main argument I guess for the island being what is causing the pregnant mothers to die. Which is a ridiculous plot point, although it's a powerful concept that no new life can be created on the island, and it technically holds true, a far as we know.

You're right. About the mothers dying, not the babies. Sorry.

So if Danielle was inpregnated far from the island and so was Claire, why did Juliet have to give Claire the injection? She didn't have the serum made until just before she gave it to Claire, right? So then, I guess I just don't undestand why they would have to inject Claire knowing that it was possible for a child to be born if the conception was away from the island.

I'll stop now. It's mind boggling, hence the appeal.

well i think Charlie or Desmond retrieved the injections that Desmond had been taking from the hatch
and had been giving them to Claire
    perhaps they are related

Juliet giving Claire the injection, in the last episode, was just smoke and mirrors. It was an antidote to whatever they had given her to trigger that reaction, it was all set up, and not because of some disease or complication. Which is silly, because it's pretty far fetched, planning that far ahead (injecting Claire with the trigger) would be really hard. We don't know if what she told them is true, that Ethan had been injecting Claire the whole time in secrecy. The injections Desmond was taking before was also just a placebo, to keep him believing that it was dangerous to be outside. I don't think they had been injecting Claire with Desmond's serum.

well i'm pretty sure they injected either claire or the the baby with desmond's serum
but it might be a red herring
also it is conceivable Ben had been planing this type of infiltration all along
and used Claire to facilitate it because she was available since they had kidnapped her for other reasons

It was the baby. But the baby had the flu. And Desmond's serum has been shown to be a placebo pill.
