a geek like me all kinds of nerdy comic book goodness in this article
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Ahead of Friday's opening of "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," Marvel Studios has begun the process of bringing another of its comics to the big screen: the elite superhero team the Avengers. Zak Penn, who wrote the screenplay for Marvel's upcoming "The Incredible Hulk," is slated to pen the live-action adaptation that would be titled "The Avengers."
the iron man movie sounds like it could be awesome. iron man is a strong character and the effects could be so cool. plus gwen paltrow is it, it couldnt be any better. Green Lantern would also make a great movie, would probably be more expensive than Superman Returns. I'm not too excited about another Hulk movie, they made the hulk look like a pissed off shrek in the first one.
I hope they skip the Ant-Man in the Avengers movie. I know he was a founding member and all, but let's face it, comic books, once upon a time, were for little kids, and some of the characters were just plain corny.
STRENGTH LEVEL: Ant-Man possesses a normal human strength of a man his age, height, and weight who engages in moderate regular exercise. When he shrinks to and size, he retains full size human strength.
KNOWN SUPERHUMAN POWERS: Ant-Man possesses the power to reduce himself to size of an ant, approximately one half inch in height, by the means a rare group of subatomic particles called the Pym Particles after the man who discovered them, Henry Pym. The nature, the source, and mechanics of the Pym particles remains a mystery, but the properties and behaviors can be determined. The Pym particles are suspended within an unknown gas, which is confined and stored in special magnetic field generating canisters.
PARAPHERNALIA: Ant-Man stores the "reducing gas" and "enlarging gas" in separate cylindrical canisters on his belt. These canisters generate a magnetic field, which keeps the Pym Particles from escaping.
