Not all women are skinny models. I have so many close friends who are so self-conscious about the shape of their bodies. And it’s so disheartening to see all these skinny model-types on tv and makeover shows where big people get some sort of surgery done for the sake of beauty. They need to come out with shows or movies with real people. I really look up to Nikki Blonsky from Hairspray and Jennifer Hudson from DreamGirls...
I'm with jm on this one. It's ok to look up to someone famous I guess, a sports figure, or an artist. But look up to them because of how they inspire you or how they set an example, their integrity, honesty, I don't know. It doesn't make sense to have a body be your row model.
i like looking up and seeing a women moaning in delight while my head is between her crotch.
ok about the subject here....
arent we a LITTLE on the oppisote side of teh spectrum here with that chick from Hairspray?
shouldnt we be suggesting that Jennifer Love HEwitt or Kate Winslett is NORMAL....not that barrell girl from Hairspray?
if SHES normal, than so is Nicole Richie PRE PRegnancy.
Nicole Richie and Blonsky are TOTALLY NOT Normal. one is UNHEALTHY thin...and one is UNHEALTHY Fat.
i like my ladies in general to BE normal body mass and in proportion, and in fact id prefer them to be slighty chubby, BUT that doesnt mean i dont date all body/personality types.
Watch your boss's meal patterns. It may not work for you, but you can always figure it out from there. The body knows what it wants, the thing is to learn to listen.
You lost 15 pounds because you were sick, not because you didn't eat, which was pretty stupid. Your body needs nutrition even more when youre sick.
Watch the salt, sugar and caffeine, and fats if you're susceptible to heart disease. Smaller, more frequent meals are starting to catch on, but you really should listen to what you want. That doesn't mean when you have the White Castle Crave, you go order a suitcase full of cheeseburgers. You can pound your three or whatever, but follow that up later with salad, so you can clean out. Balance is key, savvy?
This soap box story brought to you by the letters Q and F, and sometimes Y.
on the subject of body preference. i just like women. full stop. as long as you ain't fat (real fat. not the pretend hollywood fat), or a anorexic, or bulimic or some shit. your good.
I don't agree with this whole "real women are fat" movement. Healthy women are supposed to be thin, but that doesn't mean they can't be curvy or voluptuous. I'm not for the model-thin, flat-chested, bones hanging out look, but if you have rolls of fat on your stomach, you shouldn't be worrying about beauty standards - you should be thinking about your health. It's quite simple, really.
Do one hour of cardio everyday, half an hour of weight-training (to get toned, not to build massive muscles) and stretch (yoga is good). Then, change your attitude vis-a-vis food. Don't think: "I'm dying for a hamburger". Think "I want to take care of myself and my body only deserves the very best". This means vegetables, fruit, nuts, green tea, a bit of dark chocolate, fish, herbs, wine, etc. If you're craving something, like say pizza, have a slice or two, but double your workout the next day.
It's a typically American thing (no offense) to think that in order to have a killer body you need surgery or pills - it's only a matter of controling what goes into your mouth and how much exercise you do.
Exercise is so important. I know so many people that are supposedly healthy thin, but can't climb a flight of stairs without huffing and puffing. Fitness and health are not always visual things.....Although most healthy people have a nice glow about them.
I dig it Ducky, I'm in the middle of a stomach virus and a pretty bad case of bronchitis. Put me on Zithromax AND Avelox, so between the antibiotics and the stomach bug, I know exactly what you mean about the good stuff vacating via any opening it can.
Yuck.
I think the problem with body type is that the media has controlled 'it' for so long, everyone has a warped sense of what 'real' is. Personal preference doesn't seem to matter anymore. I prefer redheads and brunettes. You might not. But yet, if you posted something like that out front, the jackals would latch on to anything they disagree with. No one is allowed to have an opinion anymore, if you aren't a part of the mob, you're an outcast. Goes with just about anything. Insert politics, insert food, insert even something as silly as how many cups of coffee are ok for you. It's sick.
Ahhh, but kids do not have full use of them thar brains. They get drilled on passing proficiency tests instead of learning anything, and considring most advertising is aimed at the youngin's... Well... There ya go.
Why else would I have seen what had to be a 14 year old wearing a skirt so fucking short, she was showing off her... Hoo Ha. 14.
Maybe I'm too old, but Jesus Christ, cover that shit up. They ain't Britney, they ain't no skanky whatever the new flavor of the week was. Hahaha! Back in my day, most stars weren't public fuck ups, and if they were, no one knew about it until they OD'd.
That's the way it was....And we liked it. Oooooh how we loved it.
the real problem is many of the people teaching kids why reading poetry and learning algebra is useful no matter what they decide to do don't really know why it's important themselves
also, well they don't take art seriously or view it as more than just entertainment.yep i'm refering to the in 'position of authority ' (sp?) adults here. good god... :(
Oh my! Chef I have had the experience and more than once in my neck of the woods. 13-14 year old girls wearing smaller skirts than their underwear. It's like, thanks for the show.....And now I'm going to hell! Honestly it disgusts me because......Who the hell let's there kids run around like that....And they wonder why kids are all addicted to cough medicine.....Ah...Cause parents are so caught up in talking on the cell phone they don't realize that trish just walked into her junior high with a stripper outfit....Pole in tow.
Children are so inundated with pop culture that dressing/acting like that IS the "norm." Its only getting worse. I have a cousin who had kids in elementary school now, and we went out to lunch the other day and she was telling me about how she thinks her kids generation is the worst yet. And she works at the school and is on the PTA board and very involved in her kids education. Basically they are all just evil. Its frightening, because kids see SO much more than I (we) ever did growing up. I mean, damn... I'm not old... I'm barely an adult myself and I still remember the days when we didn't know what celebrities were doing, other than their work. But most people younger than me probably couldn't say that. Its scary.

Hahaha, couldn't be more true.
The girl I've been with for a lil bit is a teacher, she works in a school where HISTORY and SCIENCE are taught in one 40 minute period because the students MUST pass the proficiency exams because if they score too low, bye bye federal funding. Thank the No Child Left Behind Act for that insane shit.
I couldn't believe it until I went in for a show and tell thing, I did a cooking demo and hung out for the day. *cartman voice* holy shit guys.
Very true Pinchy....Being like your teen idol is all the rage now. It was in a way back than, but nowhere like it is now. Plus you also mentioned how kids see so much so early that they are doing stuff so much earlier. This whole friends with benefits thing! And we are talking about 12 year olds in some cases. I wasn't even ready to kiss a girl until I was 15.
as someone who was basiclly a gen x pop culture slave till i graduated HS....i feel that my life is ALOT better now that i read Sylvia Plath and Dante, 2 things i NEVER did in HS.... or listening to Music like Juliana Hatfield, another thing i DIDNT do in HS....
i find that the things i did for FUN in HS dont NEARLY compare to the shit i do in my free timenow....
IE reading Sylvia instead of playing Genesis.
i look back and HATE the fact i didnt realize these thingsin HS
I totally get ya girl.. the media has overblown this idea with girls being a size 0 or 2.. with shows like ANTM or Make me a supermodel... they should have shows about plus-sized models!!!! Because that IS the norm... anything over a size 4 is considered plus size.. crazy if u think about it!! I really like nikki blonsky though.. she looks really down to earth; she's inspirational like america ferrera from ugly betty! I'm going to be watching nikki on lifetime for her new movie called "queen sized" :)
thanks guys for your opinions... i'll be using this in my upcoming research paper for school... and i will check out that lifetime movie you said to watch
to restate/rephrase what's already ben mentioned.geek style.
i have a problem with 'normal' people whose media crush list is 90% of people that they only like for their looks. pretty depressing.especially when you consider these people see themselves os art/(pop)culture fans....
i cant say that i DONT check out females cause they look good....BUT, if they SUCK i wont listen to their music...no matter how hot said female is....cough Hayley Williams and Paramore cough
