I thought it was going to be really busy with appointments and such, but we got all the pre-op clearance stuff done for clearance for surgery yesterday, but they changed the date at the last minute....
But on the 8th.....You will have time to miss me.

    good luck ed.

She got through surgery and that went well, but they put her in the ICU due to a sleep appnea problem. She stops breathing for 10 to 20 seconds at a time and
her blood oxygen levels keep plummeting.
Plus she did want us to leave and kept trying to get out of bed to go have a cigarette. Only problem is she is strapped to a cushion thing between her legs. She basically strapped in....Fortunately the morphine would knock her out mid thought and she'd wake up 20 seconds later acting as though we just got there.
Looks like she will be alright....*crosses fingers*....Scary seeing her all bloated from surgery and hooked up to every machine invented by the medical profession.
Thanks for all your positive karma.
    Ed....
  9.
    oh wow...good luck with everything.
  10.
Glad the surgery went well Ed.
Wishing your wife a smooth recovery and you any of my strength that you need.

Well... I'm glad that she's doing okay. Sounds like a scary situation, but it also sounds like she made it through the surgery and is well on her way to getting better.

Like KB said, hope that her recovery goes off with out a hitch and this whole ordeal puts an end to her [and your] troubles.

I hope everything goes smoothly and that her recovery is quick and painless... See you when we see you Ed...

Give your dog a big ol' hug for me...

Well....I left her that night in PACU....The recovery room. She had a great nurse that was watching her every breath. Literally.
She was going to be sent up to ICU for close monitoring.
I went home, thinking she was in good hands and got some sleep. Unfortunately I came back to a complete nightmare. Turns out the
same Anthesiologist that over medicated her did it to 8 others the same day. She didn't have sleep appnea, but instead was over medicated.
Also when she went up to a ICU she had a nurse that kept pressing her morphine button. She was still unable to move or protest, but the morphine
would make her vomit....So every time the nurse pressed the button she would vomit. Finally after about 15 or so instances of this, my wife was
able to say, "I refuse care."
Thing is, the person being operated on is the only one, that has the legal right to press that button. The ICU nurse didn't even change her dressings
or sheets. In fact she wasn't changed and given a bucket to throw up in until she got to the orthopedic floor.
I stayed every night with her in the hospital after hearing that and the fact that you would hear people yelling for help for 20 mintues before a nurse
    would attend to them.
Surgeon was great, but the hospital sucked big time.
Honestly we are working on a suit against them, because not only did the ICU nurse press the morphine button, not redress her after vomiting, but kept
yelling at her to calm down once Cindy became more alert.
She survived despite the hospital...Which is pretty sad.
In any event....We got her home on Tuesday and have been being a full time caretaker until she is back on her feet or until I run out of vacation days.
She up and about a little, but due to swelling is mostly laying down most of the day. We have exercises and walks she has to do.
Plus watching her pain meds and creating meals....It has really brought us closer together.
    Alls well so far.
Thanks for your thoughts and support everyone!
I probably won't be a regular around here for at least another week, but thought I'd give an update to those that were concerned.

    Hi Ed!

Really sorry to hear about the incidents in the hospital, dreadful, happy that they are now behind you both.

Glad that your wife is home with you now, is up and about a little bit and that the two of you are feeling ever closer to one another. :)

A continuing stream of good vibes to you both Ed.

    Christ... Hospitals are terrifying places.

I'm really glad she pulled out of all that garbage and is on the road to recovery.

Good luck. Take good care of her.
