Ok, here is the thread for discussion of politics. Lets try to keep any news sources cited as credible sources. Fox news will not count and msnbc will be questionable.

Lana, since the 911 commission report is LONG here is an article that reports just the part about no Al Qaeda link to Iraq.

    Cheers!

OK. Thanks for that. My opinion about the war doesn't hinge on this though. BTW, I read a really good book called "America's Secret War" by George Friedman (founder of Stratfor). Don't worry, it's not a bunch of partisan rhetoric. I'm a HUGE fan of Stratfor (known as the "shadow" CIA). The newsletter is an excellent, straightforward source for anyone, no matter your politics.

Thats cool. I like to read Noam Chomsky but thats uber-liberal stuff. The man is such a genius though, nobody can refute his arguments. I've seen some of his documentaries like "manufacturing consent" and it's pretty scary.

I want to get his new book "failed states." You probably wouldn't be interested due to the politics but you can't argue with bulletproof logic. I have never heard anyone speak so intelligently before in my life.

You guys need to go get yourself a book, "Terrorism and the Constitution: Sacrificing Civil Liberties in the Name of National Security" by David Cole and James X. Dempsey. I think everyone should read it. It's not a conspiracy book or anything like that. David Cole is a law professor and Dempsey is deputy director at the Center for Democracy and Technology and a former assistant counsel to the US House Juiciary Subcommitee on Civil and Consitutional Rights.

    It's a pretty deep book.

The issues surrounding recent discussions on US offshore drilling for oil has significant impact for all Americans The soaring oil prices are affecting the costs of everything from food to gas. There are also significant issues on local and global environmental impact. While there are many issues, we need to look at our next leader and determine which will have the best course of action going forward. Nothing will bring down prices today except a tipping point in perception. Getting off and doing something to increase out petroleum supplies would be an improvement. Letting Cuba drill the Gulf is about par for the course. Any speculation in petroleum markets is justified by our record of ignorance in defining a cogent energy policy. i wouldn't know the first thing about all this hoopla as i am just a biker chick, and usually get everything for free Innocent but i found this poll thing of sorts at pollclash and it is interesting how they forming an unofficial debate/poll of sorts about this whole oil drilling thing. anywho, this is what it says in the headline:

"Barack Obama and John McCain have made recent statements on US offshore oil drilling while on the US presidential campaign trail. Listen to..." read the whole story here

Thanks for the comment on Fox and MSNBC.....And all the reading material.
I just thought it was so interesting that sentiment in this country leading up to the war in Iraq. Freedom frys and banning the Dixie Chicks and all that happy horseshit. That was when we still had pride in our country and particularily our leaders. Bush or anyone from his administration could tell us now that nuclear missles have been launched from Russia and that we would all be dead in an hour, and we probably wouldn't get up from our chairs. We would flat out think it was a lie.
That is pretty sad and very telling of what has transpired since the attacks on 9/11. Bush was joke at the beginning. Than 9/11 made him a credible leader again...or so we thought.....And he has chopped and chopped away at his foundation and you will here his presidency fall from the soaring sky with one final swoosh and the echos of "Timber!" resonates along the forest floor as his presidency comes crashing towards the ground
Thanks again for the reading material.

    Pffft.

    I'd be gone.

Shit...I'd be on the first plane to Ireland, flipping 99.9% of this country's population off and singing folk songs while I watch the country go "boom".
  2.
I agree...I'd probably bring my guitar and join you.
Although the point was that no one takes them seriously, and that anything they say is probably a lie, so no one would take them seriously if it were true or not.

I know what the point was.

And my point was that I'm always cautious and I have a back-up plan in case something like that does happen.
  3.
Me.....Too......Sometime plans don't go as planned....Like for example when i was here for 9/11.

    That day never happened.

Well tell that to my anxiety disorder.......That day changed my life in good way too. I stopped being a selfish, self-centered person and realized the importance
of family. So it may have never happened.....It did and some used the consequences for good and some in a bad way....Even in the most minut was, anyone slose to that event was changed in someway that day.

Fudge used to be the Minister of Magic. The current MOM is Kingsley Shacklebolt.

(I had to ask my daughter....)
