BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Stunning video from a surveillance camera at a Brooklyn hospital shows a woman dying on the floor of a psychiatric emergency room while staffers ignore her.

The video was released by lawyers suing Kings County Hospital alleging neglect and abuse of mental health patients at the medical facility.

Click here to watch the video.

The video shows the 49-year-old woman falling out of her chair at about 5:30 a.m. June 19, then lying face-down on the floor and thrashing around before going still. The woman died.

People nearby, including two security guards, do nothing to help. An hour passes before a fellow patient finally gets the attention of a staffer.

The tape also suggests that staff at the hospital might have faked medical charts belonging to the victim, Esmin Green, to cover her lack of treatment, the New York Daily News reported.

Her medical chart claims the Jamaica native got up to walk to the bathroom when she was actually writhing on the floor, the News reported. The records also have Green sitting quietly in her chair when she was already dead.

"Thank God for the videotape because no one would have believed this could have happened," Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, told the Daily News.

The agency that runs the municipal hospital — the city's Health and Hospitals Corp. — fired six staffers, including the two security guards.

It was Edith Isabel Rodriguez, and she died at MLK hospital in Los Angeles county. She had come to the ER for 3 days asking for help, and each time they prescribed painkillers and discharged her. On the third day she was discharged and collapsed on the sidewalk outside of the hospital. Her husband and another patient waiting in the ER called 911 seperately, and the asshat operator actually said "You're already at the hospital, I can't do anything to help you". She was vomiting blood, and the police eventually came and brought her back into the ER where she lay unattended and died about 45 minutes later. That's what I gathered from this broadcast. If I am incorrect, please let me know. Either way it is pathetic and disgusting that so many people were involved and just let her die. They couldn't even send an ambulance to take her to another hospital, we have that right to request that, no matter where we are. There are two things that disturb me more than anything else:

    Intentionaly violence
    Apathy for life

Ok, ok, I am done, I wont get started. Here is the video I saw:

Well, I'm now I'm good & riled up.

    Hurray.
  1.
Looks like the office chair gets more tender care than the patient....The medical staff is like, "Oh we have to do something now."

On the MLK video. When my wife was in the her hospital we would here patients screaming for help for 20 minutes until someone
before a nurse came in to help, and this was suppose to be a good hospital.
On one occasion I couldn't take it anymore and help a lady up.
The medical care in this country is down the toilet.
That's why I didn't leave my wife alone in that hospital after the first night in the ICU.
Also found out that during her stay she got hepatitus A and mono. She certainly didn't have it before, because she has to have those
tests run to get clearance for the surgery.
