  1.
Sean Penn make when hell of a queer queer....I kid.
Seriously though.......27 seconds in.....W.....James Brolin that is, doing some serious hating. Bitch.
Looks really beautifully shot and authentic to the time. I love the 70's!
Sean Penn gay reminds me of Martin Short....Even the nose looks bigger. Weird.
  2.
Um...Nancy.....James Franco is in this bitch.
Emile Hirsch...What the hell did they do to him?
this comment brought to you by the cute Snorg girl in the red...

ed..i was goona see likley because i 'felt i had to' or because i'm curuois about oscar race. but the trailer does make milk look good... :)
  4.
It does seem like one of those type of films. I'd see it just to feel the 70's vibe. Even a lost actually 70's movies don't have that much
vibe. Did you check the horrible brown suit on James Brolin?

  7.
Oh come on Glimmer. Now you are just going to make the poor girl go crazy. LOL!
Hopefully, it will not be a nude scene with Sean Penn.

milk...didn't really work for me. a bit to trad bio filmish.

and don't worry the sex scenes (both) of them are pretty tame.you do get a few kisses thrown arounf so if that bothers you cover your eyes.

also they used a version of the script differnt from the one i had. and that version wasn't good. but it likely makes it work better for the masses/increases mass appeal.

trust me there's nothing in this movie aisde from a few kisses and two sex scenece that don't show anything that anyone can say is too weird or is gonna bother them/or 'i don't undertsand it whatever'.

if you've been 'down' with the last 47 hollywood bio pics you'll likley have zero problems with this.

yeah i'm very disappointed. but like uh the dark knight. milk isn't going anywhere it roll/movement is gonna grow. it's here to stay. dislike it or not.

it made thangkgiving weekend top 10 despite only being in 36 theatres. it's here to stay. which is cool. just wish i liked the movie....
  9.
Yeah, that's sad to hear, because chances are if you disliked it....I probably will too.
I'll have to see it anyway, but thanks for the head up. Was it at the Angelika?

no milk was at landmark. the angelika and the lanndamrk(aka river oaks theatre) are the two spots for 'arty' indie films.

the landmark is the only theare in town playing milk, and it's doing mega business and has a landmark employee told me. that their being allowed to 'keep it' a little longer. meaning focus films or whomever has ok'ed the exclusiveness of this film for the landmark tell whenever..

i saw a trailer for milk at an amc. and i thought milk was hot enough to get more theatres added. but it gonna stay landmark only until....

i know putting in more theatre could mean bigger bucks. but maybe it look more prestige category to keep it at arty places only. hell sorry i don't know what going on..

o just how much the 'normal' movie hates going to the angelika or the landmark even if it's showing a film they want to see. some people really hate (just cause it's seen as the arty place) so much so they'll avoid films if that's the option.and show a snitty attitude to the employess that work there.

anyway a landmark employee told me milk did $30,000 plus for last weekend. not bad for a 'small' movie only playing one screen.when i left the early screening(on black friday) of milk. they were around the corner to get to next screening. i never seen it like that at the landmark before.chaos...
  10.
yeah I know what you mean. The stigma of the art house theater. I know my dad would always take us to see Felini and Bergman and places like that....WE even had one while I was in Pennsylvania. Great movies and I liked the people.
In fact, I hate the sterile quality of the regular cinema. Like carbon copies made over and over. The art house theaters usually have
a bit of real art going on too.
ACtually in NJ I worked and my wifes aunt continues to run the refurbishment of the Loews in Jersey City. Beautiful Theater. Hoping
one day that will be an art house theater too.

actually looking forward to seeing this.

never realized Harvey Milk grew up in my area. grew up in woodmere and taught at Hewlett HJigh School before moving to San Francisco.

ill be interested to see if any of it was flimed by me.
  13.
Isn't it rad when you can see a movie and point out stuff that's in your neighborhood?
  14.
yeah. since im tired the only think off the top of my head i know was filmed by me was some scenes from Born On The Fourth of July with Tom Cruise.

i always just find it cool to find out about people who made it good from my area.

i never knew about Harvey Milk. so its just cool knowing someone else "made" it.

    even if he got killed.
  15.
    Yeah.

The only people to "make it" from my hometown are Gary Coleman and the band Local H.

    That's it.

A part of Groundhog Day was filmed in the next town over from me & my grandfather designed the police patches for the movie.
  16.
dude dont scoff....local h is fucking amazing.

they are better than pretty much every act from around my way...

some gay ass emo bands like taking back sunday, brand new, movielife.

although i do have joan jett, lou reed and opublic enemy to name 3.

i still happen to think Local H is amazing.
  17.
No, no....I can scoff. I can scoff all I want.

Scott Lucas is a fucking cocksucking son of a bitch. He's arrogant, rude and just a piece of trash. I remember then they were a FOUR piece band and couldn't even sell out a goddamn bar in Winthrop Harbor. Then they dropped Ham Fisted, did a bit better and then As Good As Dead dropped and EVERYONE wanted to know about them. Joe, the (now ex) drummer, he's a great guy. Nice, humble, down to Earth, always had a kind word to say & always gave all the local bands in town great advice. But Scott....Scott's a fucking punk bitch. Always has been, always will be.
  18.
    sucks lucas is an asshole.

i saw them sandwiched between veruca salt and fig dish in, er, 97?

i hadnt heard of them as i was there to see VS....Local H was fucking amazing live. always sucks when people can release such great music but are generally assholes in real life.
  19.
If you saw 'em in 97, then you saw the REAL Local H. That was when they were in their prime. I've seen 'em...at least ten times from 93-to 2001. The best show they ever did was a little itty bitty unknown show in Waukegan...the day before they were scheduled to open up for STP at the United Center. They tore the ROOF off of 20 Below!

Veruca Salt....oh, those traitors. After Nina Gordon left, they defacted to L.A. and haven't been as good.

I can give you scoop on EVERY Chicago band, big or small. Ask away.
  20.
u know nikk...after veruca salt "broke up" and Nina released her solo albums and louise continued with that dude from Filter, u could actually tell who wrote what songs without even looking.

the new Veruca Salt sucks hard....but nina gordons solo stuff i think is amazing. its a shame she hasnt released more than 2 albums and some shelved content in the 8-9 years they have been broken up.

and veruca salt like was just....not good. i like them and all, but live they sounded like screaming banshees.

dont know if you saw the VS i saw, but it was sloppy and very much a huge let down.

like i said tho that local h set is one of the stand out shows ive seen in my life. it always amazes me when a 2 piece like Local H or Jucifer sounds SO HUGE live....scott's modded guitar's and G Amber's crazy live set up assure that.

but, i was blown away with how huge local h's sound was.

    hmm ok nikk...what about ajax records/tim ???

and did the rumor mill verfiy that steve albini had a 'fish dick' like courtney love said. yep i'll type anything...

hmm the poster children's 'daisy chain' cd was really good...

I saw the classic 'American Thighs/Eight Arms To Hold You' line-up. That's the real VS. That's the VS that we were proud of.

And Scott's guitar set up is nothing impressive. He just added a bass pick-up, reconfigured the placement of his strings. The top two are E & A bass strings & the bottom four are E A D G guitar strings and runs the whole thing through an additional bass amp to not blow out his regular amp. That's how he sounds so 'dynamic'. He could just play a baritone guitar and essencially get the same tones & sounds. I mean, that's what Tommy Victor from Prong did and it sounded OK.

    Joe's drumming also helped.

    What about it?

Anything that comes out of Courtney Love's mouth is probably drug addled bullshit. I don't know about anyone's dick. That's not exactly something I look into.
