Do you have a guilty pleasure console? You know one that kids today would laugh and point at you for even knowing about...?
Mine would be the Colecovision.....Turbographix was pretty cool for it's time too.
I was not an Atari 2600 fan....Intellivision was pretty cool as well.

do you still have any of those older systems ????

kids would laugh at so much older tech stuff.

13 year old forced to use a walkman for a week

    Oh the walkman was awesome!

I do have some of the older systems. Some I have saved....Some I have gotten again. I....For some odd reason kept my Turbographix, so I spend every odd Sunday
playing Splatterhouse and blasting my Where in the World is Carmen San Diego tape in my walkman....Now seriously.
I still have a Colecovision and would like to collect more.

what were the good games on colecovision ????

what did you like about that system ??? how did atari stay number one ??? seems whatever styems were as good/better. did they just have more of the 'gotta have'em' games ???

Colecovision kind of came about between Atari 2600 and Nintendo. Atari was still selling like crazy so breaking into the market was kind of tough. Although it
was nice that Coleco had an add on to play Atari games. That way you could get both.
Coleco was really a step up in technology. Donkey Kong had three levels. As opposed to Atari's two levels. I loved Ladybug, Venture, Zaxxon and Mousetrap on
the Coleco. Smurfs Adventure and B.Ç. were a couple others. I'm still trying to track down some others. I have the console, but not many games.
Atari really had the market share and had a larger library, so they always seem to win out in the end.
The graphics were far superior though....On the Coleco I mean. The NES was a step above, but there was a good 4 or 5 years between the two.
I think it was a case of what the public decided they wanted. For example Beta was superior to VHS, but people just grasped on the VHS more.
I think the same goes for video games systems. Turbographix had a portable system you could play 16 bit games on way before anyone else, but people
grasped on to the Sega and Super NES. Especially since those two had sports games with actual sports players. The Turbographix couldn't get the same endorsements
once the public grasped the other systems. Although one of my favorite football games ever is still the Turbographix football game.
Gotta have'em games help too. Sega and Super NES flooded the market with superior games.....Although they had slight less superior techology.

The first system in my house was a ZX spectrum. It was my fathers. However my first console of my own was the Sega MegaDrive (Genesis to you USA dwellers). My first game was Sonic the Hedgehog. I still own every console I've got since then. Except my X-Box 360. Thats gone. Right now I'm running on PS3.

Not a fan of the xbox 360?
If I were to get any system it would be PS3, but I just don't want
to throw down that kind of cash.
I've been out if the new scene for so long I'd have to start over.
Although that would take me all of a day...since I just love that
    whole genre.
I'm actually contimplating getting another NES. There are just so many
good games for that system and they are cheap now.
Contra is one that sticks out.
I just really love old school games. Although the GTA series is one
    of my all time favs.
