no dude, it does look good, and, considering it was made for 11K, it makes people like me keep thinking i CAN actually make a movie that could be good.
think about it.
11K.
even if that gets limited release.... this movie has 13 college towns....
if each theater does 1,000 bucks, thats what? 125 tickets? per theater.
it makes a 2K profit.
think about how awesome that is.
but yes, looks good, ill prolly go check it out if it plays around by me.
Me too. I've been searching for something that could scare me since watching Jaws at 5. Oh and the Exorcist. I still get scared something is going to grab my feet from under the bed after watching that movie.
i still havent seen Alien since i saw that at 4, and my parents had top drag me out of the theater screaming when the thing pops out of John Hurts chest.... why i cant see that and i can watch the rest of the series... well im scared.
and blair witch scares me.
watching it with full surround sound windows open on a black night, its scarier than people give it credit for.
anyway i'm gonna bring this up again found footage horror this mostly a review of rec but it does mention paranormal activity and another film this from way in 2007. got to love bop. :)
seriously Glim, if you like any of the hand held video camera 1st person movies, rec/quarentine, cloverfield, blair witch... Last Broadcast is the one to see.
Hey...I'll have to take a look. Anyone think Quarantine was better than rec? The reporters voice in "rec" was so annoying I was tempted to turn the sound down half the time. Just curious? Also: Anyone see the blasphemy that was the dubbed version of "Let the right one in." Wow....I've never seen such a bad adaptation. I know this is an old subject....But thought if I was already comparing films.
i thought rec and quarentine were too close to really tell a difference. i know wuarentine was 10 minutes longer, but, it was pretty much the same movie.
i have not seen the dub version of let the right one in, but ill assume no matter how ad it is, its still going to be better than the US remake. i have alot of japanime in dub, and, yes, its BAD... so i can understand. but i have no want to see let the right on in dubbed LOL... i feel for you.
btd... i'm not a horror fan. yeah i'm a wimp so i ahven't even given blair witch a chance/even though i know that film's not a gore fest.and this is at least the second time you've mentioned last broadcast. so that's cool. it's always cool to hear of films you didn't know of... :)
ed... i haven't seen the dub let the right one in. and maybe it will stay that way...
Yeah...Don't see the dubbed version. It nearly ruined it for me. I had to take a hot shower and they just don't make water hot enough to wash of the shit!
paranormal gonna have a big weekend you can read about bop's friday box office analysis for 0ct 10/9 here. all about friday...
or you can just read the words about paranormal below...
Paranormal Activity
Want to feel old? The Blair Witch Project was ten years ago. The movie that has been dubbed the spiritual successor to that film is Paranormal Activity. Starring absolutely nobody and shot on a handheld camera by one guy with no real script for $15,000, you can see why comparisons have been made.
The adventure that Paranormal Activity (shot in 2007) has taken to get to this point is rather impressive (including a planned bigger budget remake that was scrapped) and it culminated with a release in 13 theaters in "college towns" two weeks ago. The film's director invited people to go to a Web site and demand that the film be brought to their town as well. The limited viewings and Internet buzz were so successful that the film expanded to 33 theaters last weekend and is now in 159 theaters this week.
In those 159 theaters, Paranormal Activity earned $2.5 million on Friday. That's one hell of a per-screen average. This is now a true box office phenomenon and something to watch over the next couple of weeks. A weekend of $7.2 million is just absolutely spectacular and a wonderful success story.
words about paranormal from bop's weekend wrap up...
Fifth spot goes to the unexpected wild card Paranormal Activity. Out to only 159 venues, this extremely low budget horror flick somehow earned an amazing $7.1 million, giving it a wild venue average of $44,440. This one was made for only $11,000 (yes, thousand) before being picked up by Paramount, who saw Blair Witch possibilities. Obviously, it found Blair Witch results – the original no budget horror flick earned $1.5 million from only 27 venues and had an opening weekend venue average of $56,000. Blair Witch managed to improve on those results in the second frame by earning $2 million from 31 venues, giving it a $64,000 venue average. It went on to earn $140 million domestically in 1999. Will lightning strike twice? Maybe, and Paramount's off to a great start with Paranormal Activity.
Finishing third is Paranormal Activity, Paramount's attempt at a Blair Witch type of success. After a marketing campaign that included screening this one at college campuses at midnight, followed by a slow rollout, Paramount found the holy grail this weekend, as Paranormal Activity earned a massive $20.2 million from a still scant 760 venues. That gives it another outstanding venue average of $26,530. Paramount has grown the business for this one quite fast, moving from a gross of $77,000 on 12 screens ($6,489 venue average) to $532,000 on 33 screens ($16,129 average) to $7.9 million on 160 screens ($49,379 average) to this weekend's take. This has been one of the best platform successes in box office history, and Paranormal Activity now has a cume of $33.7 million, all against a production cost of only $11,000.
somehow i find that response funny. sure it may not have been funny if you're the person asking though. i may have to read/find that ew article you ref.
40 minutes in. this is one of the most overrated pieces of shit i have ever seen.
seriously. i hope the 2nd half of this movie is better.
and the couple is annoying a fuck. im not spoiling anything by making this comment since we all know the premise, but i hoping this movie ends with them dying. the couple in this is extremely unlikeable.
