it was one of the worst movies ive seen this year, worse than Friday The 13th, but slightly better than GI Joe for the simple fact that Kyle Gallner and Amanda Seyfried were in it.
and easily one of the 10 worst horror movies ive ever seen. imagine what a steaming pile of T-Rex shit would smell like, and you might have a clue how bad this piece of shit was.
i find it funny Diablow Cody talked about making a "Female empowerment" picture, and being one who likes stuff like Buffy, yeah, this movie was a disgrace to women.
its empowering to write a movie where 2 chicks make out? one of them being hollywoods #1 "it" girl right now? yeah right, thats "female empowerment" thats clearly not pandering to male hormones.
a demon chick who goes around killing dudes. yeah, cause killing dudes is "Female empowerment"
going to see a band and acting like a huge fucking whore while trying to get the lead singer to notice? that screams "female empowerment"
but i guess these things are what the statemnet "female empowerment" mean to an ex stripper/hooker like diablow cody.
as for megan fox, reading interviews thanks to this sites front page, i got the feeling that her "Acting" in this wasnt much of a stretch from her real personality.
but jesus, this movie was a piece of shit, and im not surprised it was an EPIC FAIL. and Diablow Cody is arrogant enough to think that it will become a "cult classic"... which basically means what? its will be liek Evil Dead? Rocky Horror? Re-Animator? she must seriously be smoking crack if she actually thinks someday that this movie will be consdiered a classic in ANY sense.
were in september, sure, but next to GI Joe, jennifers body is EASILY the worst movie this year, and easily one of the worst horror movies ive ever seen.
Jennifer's Body made something like Whiteout look like it should sweep the oscars.
id love to hear what anyone else thinks about it, if in fact, u know, anyone here wasted their time seeing it.
or maybe i was the only one stupid enough to waste my time on this septic tank.
as for diablow cody, she should be ashamed she wrote a movie that wouldnt stand a chance in the "best original screenplay" catagory next to "Ass".
hopefully her career is over, and, Megan Fox will now be recognized for what she really is, someone with no talent whose shelf life will end when the next big thing comes along. seriously, is, what? after 4 or 5 "Starring roles" ENOUGH to show everyone that her acting ability is Z E R 0?!?!? AND with no potential to improve?
"How people could even go blow their money on seeing this in the theather is beyond me."
i agree 100% ;-)
and i admit when im wrong. i was wrong. it did 3.5 mil this weekend. 6.8 last.
thats only like a 50% drop off. i predicted it would have the biggest drop off of any movie thsi year minus friday the 13th, and i was wrong, and i predicted it would be lucky if it did 1.5 this week. i was wrong.
the movie is still one of the worst horror movies ever made. i actually kinda wish that toni collette DIDNT win that emmy cause, apparently Diablwo was mad distraught after Jennifers body collapsed at the box office, but the fact that a day later Toni won for States of tara brought her positivity back.
she doesnt deserve to be positive. it wouldve been awesome if this talentless hack just wouldve retired after such a huge fucking failure.
OH btw.... she cut her hair mad short, and dyed it blonde.
and anyone, what happened to her face? does she have bells palsy? and im being serious. i have a friend with that, and i know Jim Ross from the WWE had it when i watched it. i dont have time to look now i gotta leave for work, but does anyone know if she has a health issue?
hell this project would likely succeed even without a name writer (know that it's on the table. how many screenwriters are a name to the general public ?? (5??) but everyone knows d.c. right. pretty much...)
hell it would likley be a box office success even with 'no nane' actors. so this a good move by d.c. and she also has the girly style (think that's the title. yep i'm too lame lazy to check.) which many seem to view as her really follow to juno/the movie that proves her current 'value'/status. i don't think jen's body was viewed that way. but please don't let that stop everyone from making fun of it. don't stop the pop... ;)
u know glim, i think she had this gig (Girly style sound familer) BEFORE Jennifers Body tanked.
also, dont be so sure that its gonna be a success.
it has nothing to do with Vampires, so do teen girls still actually READ Sweet Valley High?
also, i DO think movie ONE would do well for the reasons you sited, BUT, with her involvement.... it will prolly be DOA movie 2.
im sorry. but i LOVE GI Joe. it was one of my most FAV THINGS growing up. i (Sadly) paid to see it in the theater.
the movie was easily one of the worst pieces of shit EVER made. there is NO WAY that i will be seeing movie 2.
in fact anyone that goes to see movie 2 in GI Joe really mmust have an IQ lower than 50.
that being said, i think GI JOe 2 will be DOA. and one of the biggest failures in modern movie history. although i think the level of intelligence of the public is pretty low.
anyways, as for DC, yeah, she helped get an emmy for Toni, but like i said, Toni is ALWAYS GREAT. theres not a part shes played that i can think of that shes NOT great.
id suggest that it was more Toni than the writing. case in point, look at Jennifers Body, its a piece of shit, with a lead who CANT ACT. put a lead in Jennifers Body that CAN ACT, who knows?
even Juno, duide, Ellen Page is THE SHIT. is that movie as good with a different lead? say.... Megan Fox?
yeah right.
DC is gonna live or die by whose playing the lead in what she writes, because her writing cant sustain alone.
DC is gonna live or die by whose playing the lead in what she writes, because her writing cant sustain alone.
This is 100% true.
I love Diablo. She pisses people off and it makes me giggle. But Jennifer's Body made me sad. And it is going to be a cult classic....much like Ed Wood's work.
So BTD....Was it worse than Crank 2? Cause that was terrible. If they got like a good director and editor....It could have been....Good. I think they went for far too much and quite honestly....it bordered on porn for a few minutes. Maybe I'm just getting old.
btd...d.c may cheer up/when jen's body hits video. because i see it as a lock to make the top 10 video sales/top 10 video rentals type things the week it's released and it may stay on those charts for awhile.
how many people say they didn't want to see this in a theater/but want to see it ??? millions ???
and maybe if people are watching this at home with friends/family it won't matter if it isn't good ?? ;)
but seriously some people do like jen's body. there's this movie blog i go to and the kid behind it was wowed by this movie. and this someone whose taste i don't think is laughable. soooo yelp, this movie does have fans and in video land it will grab more.
btd....ellen was really good in whip it try to see it in a theater now.because if you do it on a weekday it will only like you and 15 other people in the theater.and your d.c live or die quote is classic..
d.j. i realize this is likely another one of those 'just me' things.one of the things that had me going arrgh towards d.c. was the year she won oscar for screenplay/script/whatever for juno. there was alot of talk about d.c being a female screenwriter.
while checking oscar ballots that year/and all through out the guilds/awards/award seasons leading to the oscars. scripts written by two other females were in the hunt. nancy oliver for lars and the real girl and tamara jenkins for the savages. i know it may never just be about the film/talnet itself. but to see 95% of the wins/attention go the person that was younger/easier on the eyes/had the more popular film/ was sooo 'hip' and and as you couldn't escape reading 'used to a stripper'. just produced a bunch of arrghs from me.
despite not liking juno.i would have been ok with getting alot of award wins. but for d.c. to win like 95% of the time(really it was some insane percentage like that ) was to much for me to take.
not that i blame d.c. for using her past to her advantage.but in the category of best original screenplay it would have been cool if not everything went to the person that had the youth and beauty card.ok, maybe that's further proof i'm insane.and yeah people only complain when stuff they want to win didn't win.
but i still have heard time believing lars and the real girl or the savage couldn't screenplays almost got no wins in that award season and all the wins went to juno. ' when you've got the looks then the rest just works...'
Oh my god, I can't believe you actually mentioned Lars & The Real Girl. That movie was so fucking disturbing on so many levels. I actually threw up in my mouth a little.
I think it is a 'just you' thing. I didn't even know what she looked like until after the hype for Juno...and then I was like...wow...she's cute...and she can write. What most people don't like about her, at least from my perspective, is her dialogue. She writes really out there dialogue. The dialogue for Juno is really similar to some of the dialogue for United States Of Tara and it doesn't really work with certain actors & actresses. She should take a cue from Christopher Guest and find the right combination of people to work with her and stick with them. Or...something like that. She's still starting out and she's bound to fuck up a few times before finding her niche.
Then again, I'm biased. I really like her. She pisses people off in some odd way and that's endearing to me. That and I'd totally make out with her in a second. She's cute.
d.j. because the movie was unlike what people may have expected from the premise. because it sooo well written.you know ms.oliver got my vote for best original screenplay... :)
because it was interesting to see this take/slant on a 'misfit' character on the screen.even more interesting because it wasn't played as just a joke...or in a he's beyond insane manner...
because ryan gosling did an amazing job acting wise. i don't think most guys would have wanted this role...
because this movie has 8000 tons of heart/and i wasn't the only one sniffling/fighting back tears/trying not to cry during segments of this film in the theater.
because way whenever i was talking to an employee of the angelika.and for whatever reason i mentioned i try to keep the movie stubs/tickets of the films i've seen there (i' haven't been as good with that this years/since film hasn't wowed me as much.but i still sort of try. got to get back on track )
and i said maybe i'll bring them in. and he said ok.
well my next visit to the angelika he wasn't there. so i showed the stack to a person or so (yes i'm insane...) and before things got to ultra hectic i had a short talk with one of the managers of the angelika. who uh weirdly enough for this story happens to be female. and i mention the stubs and she gives them a look. and what was the ticket/stub she pulled out of the stack and commented on/mentioned she liked... ???
say it...lars and the real girl for whatever reasons we were both surprised the other person liked this film. although i'm sure she doesn't remember this discussion. ha ha...
and because my pal ryan at awardsdaily did an interview with lars and the real girl scriptwriter nancy oliver. and *yes* he asked me if i had any questions i'd like to ask nancy. wow just to be considered/asked.wow....
come on d.j. how can i not love a film when a couple of questions i hodge podged get re-worked and asked to the person that wrote the screenplay. ultra swoon ! :)
and i really loved the film way before then too.
lars and real girl was my fav film of 2007. jellyfish was my fav film of 2008. and 2009 ??? nothing has emerged as an ultra fav. it's been that sort of year.but hey d.j. thanks for reminding me. maybe i should see lars again !
lars and the real girl....maybe the losers can win. :)
I didn't like it because one of my psych major friends showed me a documentary on Real Dolls and the people who "love" them and it seemed like it was glorifying Real Doll love.
(no offense if you own a Real Doll or support RD owners)
